How to Search the Green Lake Court Docket
The city posts no public database for Green Lake citations. For a municipal matter, pull out the citation or summons and call Lakeside Municipal Court. For a circuit matter, Wisconsin Circuit Court Access is free. Open WCCA and pick Green Lake County. The exact case number usually works best as your key.
- Read whether the notice cites a city ordinance or state law.
- Copy the citation or case number, party name, issuing city, and date.
- Call Lakeside at 920-924-2479 for a city ordinance matter.
- Search WCCA for a circuit case and read its latest settings.
- Confirm the location with the court that keeps the file.
A WCCA name search accepts last, first, and middle name, county, or business name. Advanced fields narrow things by case type, dates, citation number, and issuing agency. Drop the filters if nothing comes back. Then ask a second question. Is the matter municipal, confidential, sealed, juvenile, expunged, or simply outside the current public layer?
Green Lake Court Docket at Mill Street
Green Lake municipal sessions convene at Green Lake City Hall, 534 Mill Street, Green Lake, Wisconsin 54941. Lakeside also keeps a locked payment drop box at that building. Administrative work happens elsewhere. The office sits at 16 Garfield Street in North Fond du Lac. So mail and appearances can point to two different addresses.
The official city home notes that City Hall stays closed to the public on Wednesdays in 2026. The exception covers properly noticed meetings and Lakeside Municipal Court. That exception helps court visitors. It promises nothing for unrelated city business, and it never overrides the date printed on a summons.
Call ahead when a notice is vague. Confirm the event, the time, and the exact room. The city publishes no calendar cutoff, parking map, or local citation-code guide. The clerk is your source.
The Green Lake Municipal Court
Green Lake shares Lakeside Municipal Court with Berlin, Markesan, and Princeton. That court hears municipal ordinance violations. That includes plenty of city traffic and parking matters. It is not a branch of the county circuit docket. Each court keeps its own records. Each has its own search route.
A felony, state misdemeanor, civil claim, family case, probate matter, juvenile case, or state-law traffic citation starts elsewhere. It starts at Green Lake County Circuit Court. A city address may look local, but the caption and the law decide jurisdiction. The circuit clerk at the Justice Center holds those court records.
Current Lakeside materials list Judge Troy Damsteegt and a central phone of 920-924-2479. That office answers Green Lake municipal questions about settings and records.
Green Lake Docket and City Records
The Green Lake Clerk/Treasurer keeps city public records. It handles city open-record requests. It also collects court fines and parking ticket payments. Do not mistake that role for custody of the court file. Lakeside holds its own judicial file. Green Lake County Circuit Court keeps the circuit file.
A receipt or a city finance entry can prove you paid. It is not the full court docket. For a municipal allegation, plea, setting, judgment, or case status, ask Lakeside. For circuit filings, events, and documents, use WCCA and the county Clerk of Courts.
State and city public-record rules assign each record a custodian. Aim your request at the right one. That is faster. It spares you asking an office to certify a record it never kept.
Green Lake Court Dates and Settings
For a municipal appearance, trust the newest summons, notice, or court-confirmed reset above everything else. Green Lake City Hall is a known session site, yet an address alone cannot prove your matter is set there on a given day. Quote the citation number when you call.
| Date | The date on the latest notice or confirmed continuation. |
|---|---|
| Time | The docket-call or individual time assigned by Lakeside. |
| Courtroom | Green Lake City Hall at 534 Mill Street when the notice directs. |
| Judge | The Lakeside judge or assigned judicial officer. |
| Setting Type | Initial appearance, pretrial, trial, compliance, or another noticed event. |
An old date can linger in the history after a continuance. Hunt for the newest order or notice. Lakeside bars audio recording, video recording, and livestreaming in court.
Green Lake Docket Terms Explained
A court event means less than everyday speech suggests. An initial appearance just starts the court processing; it decides nothing by itself. A setting can move without the citation ever being dismissed.
- Citation
- The numbered allegation that identifies the municipal matter.
- Initial appearance
- The first scheduled event for plea and procedure.
- Pretrial
- A case-management step before trial.
- Continuance
- A move to another date.
- Disposition
- The recorded outcome, such as judgment or dismissal.
No official pattern governs Green Lake municipal citation numbers. Copy the identifier exactly as written. Never guess a year, city code, or case type onto it.
Green Lake Traffic Ticket Dockets
A Green Lake ordinance citation belongs at Lakeside. A Wisconsin traffic citation captioned for Green Lake County Circuit Court belongs on WCCA. It also belongs with the county clerk. Before paying or filing a plea, read the statute or ordinance, the issuing agency, and the court printed on the ticket.
Lakeside's forms page offers a written plea route. Its payment page lists mail, in-person, drop-box, and online options. Paying and contesting are separate paths. A person who wants to contest should meet the plea deadline. Payment does not preserve a hearing request.
The court case record sits apart from a Wisconsin driving record. The Green Lake County traffic court records page walks through the broader circuit route and the two-custodian split.
Green Lake Court Payment Routes
Lakeside's payment instructions describe several ways to pay a municipal citation. A locked drop box sits at 534 Mill Street. You can also mail your payment to the North Fond du Lac office. Another choice is paying there in person. The online option adds a service fee. Whatever route you choose, copy the exact citation information and current amount straight from the notice.
One caution: the Green Lake County AllPaid code covers only qualifying circuit obligations. It does not handle Lakeside municipal citations. Money sent through the wrong system can leave a municipal obligation sitting unresolved. Confirm receipt afterward. Ask whether any court date remains open.
Also remember that a payment box is not a records counter. If you need an open case file or a copy, contact the office that keeps the records. Identify the citation, the document, and the date. Green Lake municipalities set no single universal copy or certification fee. Expect to ask each office what it charges.
Where Green Lake Cases End Up
A city ordinance case starts at Lakeside. An appeal from there can create a Green Lake County Circuit Court case. So can a request for a new trial. State criminal charges, ordinary civil suits, family matters, probate, juvenile cases, and circuit traffic matters are different. Those begin at the circuit level. They never pass through Lakeside first.

WCCA can show you a circuit case's caption, filing date, status, and branch, plus the parties allowed for public display, along with events, settings, judgment, and disposition. What it will not show is a public image of every eFiled document. To go deeper, the Green Lake County court docket page walks through the circuit docket search and the clerk channels that supplement it.
Green Lake Docket History Runs Deep
Green Lake serves as the county seat. Its roots run deep. The community began as the village of Dartford in 1847. County history records a county-seat dispute from 1862 to 1866 that ended with county records coming back to Dartford, the town we now call Green Lake. That history ties the city closely to court records. It does not change where you go today.
The working circuit counter now sits at the Green Lake County Justice Center, 571 County Road A. The old courthouse at 492 Hill Street no longer serves as the docket counter. A current circuit file belongs at the Justice Center. A Green Lake municipal appearance may still happen on Mill Street.
Custody of older files is a separate question from modern access. WCCA points you to current public circuit information. Older retained files may call for a clerk request. The governing rule is Wisconsin Supreme Court Rule Chapter 72.
Public Access to Green Lake Court Records
Wisconsin law opens many records to the public but still protects confidentiality, certain identifiers, juvenile limits, and sealing orders. Where you take a request depends on the record. Municipal case requests go to Lakeside. Circuit requests go to the Green Lake County Clerk of Courts, and city administrative requests to the city custodian.
Key Rules:
Wis. Stat. §19.35 provides inspection and copying subject to lawful limits.
Wis. Stat. §801.19 protects specified identifiers in filings.
Wis. Stat. §§801.20-801.21 govern confidential records and sealing.
Juvenile files carry separate restrictions under Wis. Stat. §938.396. Open-record law cannot override a seal, and a missing public result is not proof that no underlying record exists.
Confirm a Green Lake Court Record
Details matter when you ask for a court record. For a municipal request, give Lakeside the exact citation number, the issuing city, and the party name. Include the event date too. For a circuit request, give the county clerk the case number and the caption. Add the title of the document you want. Also say up front whether you need inspection, a plain copy, or a certified copy.

The city counted 1,001 residents in the 2020 Census. The 2025 DOA estimate is 1,023. Those numbers describe local scale rather than case volume. Lakeside publishes joint statistics without breaking out a Green Lake-only share.
If WCCA is down, any Wisconsin county courthouse offers a public WCCA terminal. Keep its limits in mind, though. A terminal does not unlock protected information. Nor does it replace the clerk when open papers are missing from the online case-details view.
